Our society started out of necessity. With a request from the Town of Taber and the
Taber Police Service in 2019, a group of dedicated volunteers formed to create the
Taber Lost Paws Society. We are proud to say that three original members still serve as
Executive Directors on our Board to this day.
Since that time our partnership has evolved to include the Municipal District
of Taber in 2022. Today we work alongside Community Standards Unit
who enforce bylaws including animal control within the Town of Taber
and MD of Taber.

Where it began
The old facility was falling apart and much too small. In 2020, fundraising began to build a new 12 kennel facility. This was possible by the efforts of dedicated community volunteers who spent countless hours fundraising. With hard work and dedication, we opened our doors to our first dogs in February, 2021
Where we are today |
In 2024, Taber Lost Paws Society was able to hire
our very first full time Manager, who also specializes in dog training and behavior. We are proud to have created a healthy place for the dogs that come through our doors. We are a NO KILL SHELTER. WE ARE THRILLED to report that our society has found loving homes for over 75 dogs since we first opened. And we are so blessed to have the support from our community who continue to donate and respond generously to our fundraising efforts. One thing we know for sure, from the very beginning, we simply could not operate without our team of VOLUNTEERS who treat our dogs as if they are their own. Our volunteers have helped us build what we have from the ground up. |
